Project Summary

Description

The Valdisotto Municipality decided to install a solar thermal system on the new hotel mainly to promote renewable energies towards the population. As soon as the monitoring data will be available, the Municipality will disseminate the solar systems’ performance and quantify the cost-benefit results.

Public Administrations should always be the first to implement best practice examples in order to promote the use of renewables.

Summary

The solar collectors heat up a two mc buffer storage via external heat exchanger. The system provides hot water to three hot tap water storage tanks. The heat flow between buffer and hot tap water storage is being measured.

The overall system costs amount to 37,085 EUR, including VAT (10 %). The Ministry for Environment subsidised the installation with 20 % of the investment costs within a subsidy program for Public Administration, especially addressed to solar thermal systems.

The Municipality of Valdisotto joined the SOLARGE project with a building stock assessment and a feasibility study for two CSTS. Both were realised, on a hotel and on a publicsport centre.
