Project Summary

Description

All buildings are built in accordance with national thermal insulation standard from year 2001. From the beginning geothermal water (26 °C) and liquid gas (LG) were used. In 2004 improvement of heating system was made. Two heat pumps and solar system were installed. Larger heat pump is used for preheating of tap water. Hot tap water is supplementary heated by LG boilers. Smaller heat pump is used for cooling boiler room and preheating of tap water as well. The solar system is used for preheating of indoor and outdoor pools. Vacuum collectors were selected according to available space with adequacy orientation and consultation with architect. In the year 2005 the National award „Most energy efficient system“ was grant to Company Zarja-Kovis d.o.o. for concept of energy supply of Therme Snovik turistic and recreation center.

 „Terme Snovik d.o.o. are gradually realizing their development vision to become environmental friendly spa. Emphasis is given on efficient energy use, waste heat recuperation (pool water, hot air) and use of renewable energy sources. Local community Snovik decided to use solar systems for heating tap water in all buildings, therefore Terme Snovik d.o.o. decided to collaborate in this project with building its own solar system. Significant influence on the decision to built solar system had non-refundable subsidies approved by Agency for efficient energy use (AURE). In the near future we will built the biomass district heating system for Terme Snovik and nearby village Snovik.“

Summary

In 2004 energetic improvement of heating system was made. Two heat pumps and solar system were installed. The solar system has vacuum solar collectors with 81 sqm area. System is used for preheating of pool water only. Vacuum collectors were selected based on available space with proper orientation and consultation with architect.

Introduction

The total cost of the solar system was 49.500 € or 611 €/m2 of solar collectors. The cost was efficiently reduced due to the fact that planning and installing of the solar system was done by the investor themselves. Approximately 40 % of investment was covered by state non-refundable subsidies.

Special note for subsidy systems in the partner country

The investor obtained non-refundable subsidy of 48.750 € from public invitation published by Agency for efficient energy use. This amount was meant for two heat pumps water/water, one air/water and vacuum solar collectors.

With professional and public promotion we would like to emphasize reasonableness of keeping non-refundable subsidies schemes, which we partake in.

Summary of experiences / Notices to the project performance

From the beginning geothermal water and liquid gas is used. In 2004 improvement of heating system was made. Two heat pumps and solar system were installed. The solar system is used for preheating of indoor and outdoor pools. Predicted annual energy collected by the system was 57 MWh. Significant influence on the decision to build solar system had non-refundable subsidies (48.570 €) approved by Agency for efficient energy use (AURE).
